It was sublime entertainment on Saturday, in Ayingba, Kogi State, as Globacom’s flagship show, the Glo Mega Music Nationwide Tour, treated students and residents of the university community to over five hours of music, funtainment and dance, featuring legendary singer, Tuface Idibia, Queen of Afro-Pop, Yemi Alade, Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa, Timaya and other top Nigerian artistes.
Anchored by Nollywood’s Mercy Johnson-Okojie, alongside Juliet Ibrahim of Ghollywood, the show attracted a mammoth crowd made up of members of the university community and residents of the town. The show was held at the sports field of Kogi State University (KSU), Anyigba, with D.J Tops delighting the crowd with different tracks.
Dance hall master, Runtown, opened the floodgate of entertainment with an outstanding performance th
at set the standard for the night. From one hit track to another, Runtown delighted them with Kolabo, Fijo Gbowo, Emergency, Baby Answer, Bend Down, Pause and Superwoman and the entire crowd were thoroughly thrilled. Next was Megbele crooner, Omawumi, whose energetic contribution alongside her band was awesome. From beginning to the end of her performance, she delivered creditably well and the crowd applauded her after each track. It was however Kokoma Bonsue, Somori and As I dey tracks that attracted the loudest ovation.
Omawumi was followed by Afro-Pop queen, Yemi Alade, who also had an outstanding performance. The star track was Ferrari which closed her performance, but the audience who enjoyed her pulsating stage performance kept asking for more. Then came Kiss Daniel who turned the show into a carnival. The crowd sang and danced to his tracks throughout his stage performance and he was given a standing ovation on his way out.
While the momentum kept growing, the duo of the Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa, Timaya, and the African Queen creator, Tuface Idibia, came on stage, one after the other, and it was fun all the way as Tuface whose presence particularly thrilled the students of the university entertained them with style and panache, dropping a combination of his evergreen tracks and the new ones. Timaya also resonated with the crowd and generally gave a good account of himself. The next edition of the show will be held at Trans Amadi area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
